Windows XP Wont Activate After Repair Install




This free computer guide is for when XP wont active after a repair install, there is a simple way around this that i use myself, it simply consists of downloading the latest internet explorer and a hotfix. Follow the free step by step guide below and you should be able to activate Windows after with no problems.

Step 1

From another computer download these 2 things:

INTERNET EXPLORER 8
HOTFIX KB946501
Step 2

Then either burn them to a disc or put them on a USB pen.

Step 3

Start your computer and repeatedly tap the F8 key until a menu pops up. Then select safe mode with command prompt and login.

When in you will see a screen like below. Simple click the x in the top right corner and you will be into windows but with no task bar or icons.

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to bring a menu up and select file, then new task and type explorer.

  The background will now popup. If you have XP SP2 then install the hotfix and IE8. If you have XP SP3 then you only need to install IE8. After that, restart your computer and the activation wizard will come up.
