Update Software




This guide will show you how to update software on your computer. If you need to update hardware drivers or your Windows operating system please use the other guide. Keeping software updated can help to improve the speed of the program, prevent crashes as well as adding new and improved features.

Step 1

Open the program you wish to update. So for this example I will use uTorrent, which is simply a downloading program. Now most programs will have a built in feature that you can click to update it, these are usually located in either the help tab along the top or the settings tab. They can also be found under the preferences menu. If you are not able to update the program this way then please continue onto step 2.

So, if you cant download the update like seen in step 1, or the program doesnt have an update feature then we can download the program manually. The easiest way to get the latest program update is by going to the developers website. So for uTorrent i would do a search in google for uTorrent:

Once onto their website its just a case of finding the downloads section or the latest version. Usually the latest version will be on their homepage.

Step 4 If your still not having any luck. The most popular downloads (firefox updates, IE, latest antivirus versions etc) can be found on a website called FileHippo
