Ping Your own Computer
This guide will show you how to ping your own computer. This is usefull to determine if your computer can send and recieve packets of data over the network/internet.
| Step 1 |
First you will want to go into the start menu and select run. Then type cmd and a black screen will appear.
Alternatively you can go into the start menu -> All programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt
|
| Step 2 | A black screen will appear, from there you want to type "ping localhost". This will then ping your own computer. You can also type "ping 127.0.0.1" however this just does the same procedure.
If you recieve a reply this means the device is working.. If you get operation timed out or another error message then please view our Network Troubleshooting Guide or contact the system administrator. |
