Setup Wired Network




This guide will take you through setting up a wired network. If you dont have any of the eqipment you must first decide which provider you will go with (Virgin media, BT etc.) The internet provider will send you out your modem with all necessary wires. For this guide we have chosen a virgin media modem.

step 1

When recieving your modem you should have the following hardware:
-Modem
-Ethernet/USB cable
-Power Lead

First you will need to connect you modem to the internet line. As seen below.

Next you need to connect the ethernet cable to the back of the modem. You connect the other end into the back of your computer.

Now that those are connected, you will want to get some power to the modem.

Step 5 You should now be conected to the internet. You may have recieved a disc with the modem. If so install the software now and follow the on screen instructions. (you may have recieved a username and password you need to enter to get connected)
