Secure Your Network
A guide to securing your network and keeping leechers from using your bandwidth. If you dont secure your wireless network, other than your bandwidth been used and it slowing down your computers internet connection, if the person using your netwrok decides to view illegal websites, you could be responsible.
| Step 1 |
First you will need to access your wireless router settings. there are two ways you can do this, sometimes your installion CD will have a configuration menu which you can click to access the settings. If not then folow this guide. You will want to find out your default gateway. To do this go to the start menu and click run (vista users type run in the search bar). A box will then pop up, you will want to type cmd into it.

| Step 2 | Now you should have a black box. Type ipconfig into that and it will display your default gateway. Please note down this number. |
| Step 3 | Open up an Internet Explorer browser. and type you defualt gateway into the address bar. You will then get your wireless router settings up. |
| Step 4 | Navigate to the security tab/section on your menu (note that all menus differ slightly). Here you can select thetype of security. we would suggest WPA2. however many people have a WEP key. After selecting the type please enter you password/phrase. Then click save settings.

| Step 5 | Your wireless security will now be setup. Your wireless router may now restart, this is a normal procedure. |
