Install Windows Vista
Here's the guide to installing Windows Vista.
NOTE: if you have a laptop, they almost always have a built in recovery partition. This means you don't need to mess about with any CD's. To find out how to access the recovery partition please consult your instruction manual. If however you have a desktop PC or a laptop without a recovery partition then please read on.
| Step 1 |
Step one is to get your Windows Vista CD and place it in the drive. we need to boot from the CD. To boot from the CD, you will either get a message at startup say 'press any key to boot from the CD' or you will have to go into the BIOS and set the CD/DVD drive to first boot option. To access the BIOS you will have to press a key at startup, usually its either the delete key, esc key, F1 or F2.. if needs be just keep tapping them all until a menu pops up. Then navigate to the boot section - this will look different in just about everyone's BIOS but it will be in there somewhere.
| Step 2 | After you have booted from the CD a black screen will come up and say loading files, after that you will see the screen below. This is where you select your language etc..
| Step 3 | After clicking next, to install Windows click Install now.
| Step 4 | Enter your product key for Windows Vista, this will be on the side of your CD case that the disc came in. After you have entered the key put the sticker on the side of your computer case so you never loose the key.
| Step 5 | Click the little box that says I accept, then click next.
| Step 6 | Here you will want to select custom.
| Step 7 | This is where you select the hard drive to install windows Vista on. After highlighting the chosen drive click next to continue.
| Step 8 | This screen will come up and it will start going through the process of installing Windows. This may take some time so be patient.
| Step 9 | Once it has done the previous step your computer may restart once or twice, this is all normal.
| Step 10 | Windows is completing the installation. Once again this may take a while so be patient.
| Step 11 | Now you should enter your Login name and password.
| Step 12 | Click next here.
| Step 13 | Select recommended settings.
| Step 14 | Set the time and date and click next.
| Step 15 | A thank you screen will pop up. Click on the start button to start Windows for the first time.
| Step 16 | Now you will see this screen. This is just preparing your desktop.
Once done you will see this screen. Your nearly there now.
Your desktop will then pop up and your into Windows Vista. Congratulations!
