Change Desktop Background
Changing the picture on your desktop is fairly simple. This guide will show you how to import a picture from the internet and use it as your desktop background, as well as keeping a backup copy just in case you want it back at a later date.
| Step 1 |
First, you need to find out the resolution of your desktop. This can be found in the desktop properties. To find this, simply right click anywhere on your desktop and select ‘Properties’ or ‘Customise’ depending on your version of Windows.
Then you need to click on either ‘Settings’ or ‘Display Settings’ and find your current desktop resolution. Note this down as is can be difficult to remember.
|
| Step 2 | Now you need to find a picture you want to use as your desktop background. The easiest way is to search on Google Images. Type in your search and press enter. |
| Step 3 | Now, Google has a feature which allows you to input your resolution. This will give you all pictures with that resolution, making it easier for you to find the background you want.
|
| Step 4 | Find your image and preview it in full size mode so it opens fully in your current window.
|
| Step 5 | Now you can close your internet browser as this is no longer needed. Find the fold which holds your image and view it in Microsoft’s Picture Viewer. To do this, right click the file and go to ‘Open with’ and select ‘Windows Photo Gallery’ or ‘Windows Picture and Fax Viewer’ depending on operating system.
|
| Step 6 | Right click the image and select ‘Set as Desktop Background’. This will successfully change your background, keeping a copy of the image in case it is ever changed.
